Monarch OD

The Monarch Overdrive is an all discrete, FET based dirt machine. It’s designed around the input stage of a vintage amp produced by a company that bears the same name as the color of the monarch (hint...). It’s been configured to produce higher gains that sound very natural and free of compression. The treble and bass controls function as frequency boosters, not the traditional roll off filters in most OD’s. They are located in the preamp section and have a large impact on the over all tone, nature and distortion characteristics of the pedal as well as your amp. It gives big bottom end with a snappy, bright top at all gain ranges with some careful tuning of the tone controls. And, yes, it's true bypass.

Any regulated 9-18 volt DC power supply with a negative 2.1mm center barrel. Higher voltages will yield more headroom with a fatter and more focused tone and a wider gain range.

Ghost Echo Reverb

The Ghost Echo Reverb is designed to emulate a vintage reverb unit. It ‘s capable of providing a little atmosphere all the way through to vast depths. The attack control sets the delay of the initial pick attack on the wet signal only. When playing staccato this registers as a slap back type echo hitting the reverb but when playing fluid lines it adds a massive depth and "fattens" up the sound. The dwell control is a fine tune function that enhances the decay. At first it may seem like it's not there but back it off and you'll miss it. The depth controls the intensity of the reverb.

White Light Overdrive

The White Light Overdrive is my take on what an overdrive should be. Based more in the area of vintage overdrives (like the DOD 250 or MXR Distortion+... and no, it's not a clone of anything) with more control over the voice and a lot more "modern" presence to make it more dynamic. Don't let the lack of tone control turn you off, what you put in is what you get out and you can adjust the low end and saturation to your liking w/ the "Weight" control.

Grand Orbiter

4 stage OTA Based phaser ala the Ross Phaser and DOD 490 (Circuit is loosely based on both of these). Two LFO speeds that can go from painfully slow to ridiculously fast. Dry kill switch to get vibe/vibrato effect, depending on where the controls are set. Rate controls the speed of the LFO, extremely wide range in conjunction with the two mode switch. Depth controls the amount of phase shift mixed with the dry signal (not how the LFO shifts the filters) so you can get very subtle pseudo 2 stage through full on. Sweep controls the frequency range and resonance controls the regeneration which makes the effect more or less intense. The sweep and resonance have a large range and you can dial in classic subtle tones through over the top phasing.

Controls:
Depth- Controls the amount of phase effect mixed with dry signal. When "dry" switch is in the off position, this should remain at max.

Rate- Controls the speed of the LFO

Sweep- Controls the Frequency range

Resonance- Controls the regeneration of the phasing.

Rate 1+2- Changes the range of the speed control. 1 is slower, 2 is faster.

Dry- Cuts the dry signal to create a vibe/vibrato effect depending on the setting of the other controls. Vibrato is created by turning the rrsonance down low.

Black Eye Clean Boost

EarthQuaker Devices Black Eye clean boost is a single Mosfet based booster. This device is very crisp and clear and has up to 30db of gain. The gain is set by an internal trimmer (so if you own a low-output guitar you may be able to squeeze out even more gain) and the level is controlled with the external control. Simple and direct!

In case you are not familiar with clean boosts: This device does not create distortion on it's own. It can be used to drive your amp (or other pedals) into singing overdrive or boost your clean sound unaltered.

Crimson Drive Germanium OD

The Crimson Drive is a germanium based overdrive. It creates an open, uncompressed overdrive via a germanium transistor and 2 germanium diodes. When it reaches top gain, it creates an excellent singing marshall-esq fuzz tone. It works wonders on single coils and sounds great on open chords. It has a nice brite and raw (but not brittle) tone.

Dirt Transmitter Fuzzdriver

The dirt transmitter is 2 transistor crumbling fuzz tone. The tone control takes it from a bass heavy rumble to a biting top end. The fuzz control range can produce tones from thick break up to all out shredding. Works great with both single coils and humbuckers, clean up with the guitar volume is excellent . Excessive amounts of volume and virtually no extraneous noise. Not for everyone, those looking for a subtle smooth fuzz should look elsewhere!

Disaster Transport Delay

Disaster Transport is a uniquely voiced digital delay with foot switchable modulation. The repeats have more mids and less muffled lows than a standard delay of this nature. I would say it's somewhere in between analog and tape delay with a voice of it's own. The modulation can give you wacky, out of tune pitch bending craziness to a subtle chorus warble. This ships with a 9v battery but I advise using a regulated 9v power supply for best performance. Do not attempt to use anything higher than 9v!!

Notes
The (intentional) volume boost has been returned to unity and the switch pop has been completely eliminated on the latest version. Also, (I get a lot of emails on this) the Diasaster Transport has nothing to do with the "Echo Base" schematic that's floating around the internet.

Hoof Fuzz

EarthQuaker Devices Hoof Fuzz can produce sounds all the way from gritty overdrive to a huge wall of doom! It is a germanium/ silicon hybrid big muff style fuzz (it's based on the old green Sovtek Big Muff but it's a pretty different dude now) with massive amounts of volume and sustain on tap. It has a tighter sound than most muff's which makes palm muting an option and open chords ring out clear. The altered tone control (as well as a few other keys changes) eliminate the problem of being lost in the mix and sends your guitar ragin' on it's way!

Hummingbird Repeat Percussions

EarthQuaker Devices Hummingbird is, at heart, a hard and choppy tremolo. What comes out is more akin to vintage synth style oscillations. It's core is based on the old Vox Repeat Percussion with several updates to reduce noise and enhance the "chop". It can create strange ring mod-like tones, slow pulses, delay-like stutters, choppy tremolo and many more strange sounds!

Notes
The Hummingbird has had a facelift inside and out. The new version has a faster "chop" rate that get's even further into ring mod territory and even octave down weirdness! New photos and sound samples will be up asap. I expect V2 to start shipping 5/10/08.

Pulse Machine Trem

The Pulse Machine is a heavily modified and finely tuned version of the old "EA" tremolo schematic that so many tremolos are based on. It sounds beautiful (crisp and clear but well rounded), it's highly useable and virtually silent. It's very reminiscent of old amp trems we are all so fond of. The rate can go from soft pulse-like throbs to a fast and racy sputter and the high brightness LED flashes along. The depth control works through the whole range and there is more than enough volume on tap. If you are looking for a simple and dynamic tremolo, this is your dude!

Tusk Fuzz

The Tusk fuzz is capable of tones from mild, overdrive-like break up to a tight and cutting fuzz. Most fuzz pedals loose their definition when they get to the top of the dial, the Tusk stays crisp and cutting.

It's more akin to a Rat type distortion than a fuzz face or big muff style fuzz pedal, yet it's thick and full. It fattens up single coils, adds more weight to humbuckers and, if your nice, it'll cook you breakfast too. Maybe not, but it still rips!
