What Order Do They Go In ?
The first rule when hooking up your pedals is there is no rules. The most important thing about these little boxs is how do they sound? That's really all that matters in the long run.
There are some basic rules that people follow which may aid in the hook up of the boxs in the first place. Usually they run compression pedal first, wah pedals second, then all the overdrives/fuzz's, then the modulation pedals (chorus, flange, etc.) and then last the delay pedals. The volume pedal if used should go first or last depending on the sound. But again these are based on what most people do. Are you most people? Maybe put them in different order..make new sounds....find better quality sounds?
Since every pedal and cable placed in between a guitar and an amp will hypothetically degrade the signal, another compromise of pedals is that you are limited in the number of effects that you can use. I personally feel that this limit actually has a positive effect in that it forces you to choose the sounds that truly enhance your personal sound, and also forces you to get the most out of them. I say six to eight pedals is probably the max you should have in a pedalboard, and try to choose pedals that feature "true bypass" to keep the signal clean. Also, use quality cables to connect everything.
What do you guys think ?? The bottom line is HOW DOES IT SOUND ? Never hook something up just because someone told you. There is NO rules you can't break anything.....plug it in ...see it how it sounds.
