Dean Guitars - Can you imagine building guitars and actually selling them when you were 18 ? I know what I was doing at 18 and it wasnt running a guitar building company ! Dean Guitars was born in 1976, in the attic of the Chicago suburban childhood home of company founder Dean B. Zelinsky. The eighteen-year-old Zelinsky was convinced that guitar design and manufacturing had hit a wall. Rock music was huge and guitar makers were failing to keep up with the times. The world was ready for a guitar that looked, played, and sounded superior to what was available from manufacturers at that time. Zelinsky had a better idea.
In the 1980s Dean Zelinsky sold to Oscar Medeiros who owned the Dean name & trademarks. He built some of the first neck through models and initially instituted the American Custom Shop and took Dean guitars to the next level. Armadillo Enterprises purchased the Dean company in the late 90's and the new owners were very smart to bring back. Currently Dean is running the production for all the USA made guitars available. He is making the complete original line of products and a model called the Hardtail.
Today Dean is bigger and better than ever. They make guitars overseas and in the USA in their custom shop. They are still cutting edge and also host the fine Dean Girls !
